DANDRUFF


             Everyone wants a healthy and shiny long hair. But in order to achieve that,

aside from your hair you also need to take care of your scalp.

  • Dandruff is also a common complaint, especially in the winters.
  • Since most people wash their hair with warm water during the winter season, this often causes

the scalp to become dry and flaky.

  • Dandruff is the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp.
  • Dandruff is sometimes caused by frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold.
  • It can be caused due to oily or dry skin.
  • Dandruff can also cause itching on your forehead and face as it settles on your skin.
  • In fact, there can be a number of reasons that a person may suffer from dandruff.
  • Dandruff is more common in men than in women, and in people with oily skin.

       

               If you hate using chemical hair products and want to make the best of nature’s goodness

to combat your dandruff problem, here are some home remedies that are sure to give excellent

results.

                                               HOME REMEDIES:

FENUGREEK(METHI) SEEDS:

  • Soak 2-3 tablespoons of methi seeds in water and keep it overnight.
  • Next day, make a paste by grinding in food processor.
  • You can directly apply this paste on your scalp.(OR)
  • You can also mix curd into the paste. (OR)
  • You can also add lemon juice into it.
  • Apply the paste to the scalp.
  • Leave it for 30-45 minutes.
  • Wash the hair thoroughly with plain water.
  • After shampooing your hair, just wash your hair with cold water. 
  • This closes any open pores on the head and ensures the hair strands are sealed.

CURD:

  • Curd works wonders for removing dandruff.
  • It also improves the texture and softness of your hair.
  • Curd that was kept open for 2-3 days works well.
  • Simply apply curd on the scalp. (OR)
  • You can add lemon juice to it.
  • Keep it for 20-30 minutes.
  • Wash off the hair with plain water.
  • After shampooing your hair, just wash your hair with cold water. 
  • This closes any open pores on the head and ensures the hair strands are sealed.

LEMON JUICE:

  • Lemon should not be used alone or directly because of its high acidic nature.
  • Mix lemon juice in oil and apply it on the scalp. (OR)
  • Mix lemon juice with curd and apply it.

  • Using a teaspoonful of fresh lime juice as a last rinse during your hair wash is a good remedy for

   dandruff caused by an oily scalp. 

  • It also helps in removing stickiness. 
  • You can try this once a week.

HOT OIL THERAPY:

  • This is said to be the most effective method for treating dandruff. 
  • Use essential oils like Olive oil, Almond oil, Coconut Oil etc.
  • Take required amount of oil and heat it on low flame. 
  • Do not heat too much it may hurt your scalp.
  • Massage your scalp with hot oil and let it sit for an hour. 
  • Wash hair and repeat this a few times a week.

SHAMPOO EACH DAY TO KEEP IT AWAY:

  • Keep your scalp hydrated.
  • Washing your hair with a good cleansing shampoo on a regular basis is important. 
  • If you are having short hair, wash it regularly.
  • If you are having long hair, wash twice a week.
  • There are many anti-dandruff shampoos available in the market.

VINEGAR:

  • Vinegar is extremely effective for the treatment of dandruff as it is rich in potassium and 

enzymes which will help to cure an itchy scalp and dandruff.

  • The two most common types of vinegar that are used in order to get rid of dandruff include 

apple cider vinegar and white vinegar.

  • You can directly treat vinegar on your dandruff scalp or with the help of cotton pads you can

apply on your scalp.

  • Leave it on your scalp for about 1 hour before washing.

EGG WHITE:

  • Egg pack helps in many ways. Egg pack helps for the hair growth, dandruff removal, and 

maintenance of the hair.

  • Beat 2 eggs to apply it on scalp and rinse it off within one hour to get dandruff free hair.
 
  • Egg acts as a good conditioner for dry hair giving them glow and shine.

ALOE VERA GEL:

  • Aloe Vera gel will not only help to prevent hair fall and baldness but will also help in the 

treatment of dandruff.

  • Rub aloe Vera gel into your scalp. Leave it on for 10 minutes, and shampoo your hair. 
  • If you do this regularly the dandruff will stay away.

BABY OIL:

  • Good remedy for dandruff. 
  • Apply baby oil onto scalp.
  • Massage Scalp with your finger tips but not too roughly.
  • Cover with a towel/cover and leave it overnight.
  • Next day, wash with good anti-dandruff shampoo or you can use baby shampoo.

DO NOT TIE ON WET HAIR:

  • Never tie your hair when they are wet.
  • The moisture left in hair also causes dandruff.


HENNA POWDER:

  • Take henna powder, curd and tea water. 
  • Add few drops of lemon juice to it. Make a paste and apply it on your head. 
  • Leave it for at least half an hour then wash off. 
  • Egg added in henna powder helps hair in getting rid from dandruff.
  • Apply this pack on the hair at least once in 15 days to cure dandruff.

NEEM LEAVES:

  • The leaves of Neem Tree has got a lot of medicinal values and it is well known remedy for 

dandruff.

  • Take handful of neem leaves and boil.
  • Make it into thick paste.
  • Apply neem leaves paste on your scalp.
  • Leave it for 15-20 minutes. (OR)
  • Simply you can use boiled neem leaves water to wash your hair.

CAMPHOR:

  • Mix some camphor in coconut oil.
  • And apply it on your scalp.
  • Massage with your finger tips working at the hair roots of the scalp.
  • Do it regularly the problem will be solved in few days.

HAIR BRUSH:

  • The hair should be brushed daily to improve blood circulation and reduces dandruff.
  • The most effective way of brushing is bend forward with head down towards the ground and 

brush from back of neck towards the top of the head.

  • Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also a useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.

AVOID JUNK FOOD:

  • Our diet plays a very important role in managing our hair, skin and beauty.
  • When the diet is not balanced, it may lead to the development of dandruff.
  • Avoid oily, fatty, sweet and salty foods.
  • If you strictly follow a diet which contains lot of fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods,

you may get rid of dandruff.
