HENNA CONDITIONING FOR DRY HAIR


Ingredients:

Henna powder

Any essential oil that you use regularly (one tablespoon)

Warm milk

Instructions:

  • Take required amount of henna powder into a small bowl.

  • Add, one tablespoon of oil and enough milk to it.

  • Mix it well until you get fine paste.

  • Apply this paste on hair and leave it for 20-30 minutes.

  • Rinse the hair with cold water and never use a shampoo or conditioner.

  • Let the hair air dry and apply oil and leave it overnight on your head.

  • Next day, shampoo and condition your hair.

HENNA CONDITIONING FOR OILY HAIR


Ingredients:

Henna powder

Yogurt (2 tablespoons)

Sugar (1/4 th of tablespoon)      

Instructions:

  • Take required amount of henna powder into a small bowl.

  • Add, two tablespoons of yogurt and 1/4 th of sugar to it.

  • Next add bit of water and mix it well until you get fine paste.

  • Apply this paste on hair and leave it for 20-30 minutes.

  • Rinse the hair with cold water and never use a shampoo or conditioner.

  • Let the hair air dry and apply oil and leave it overnight on your head.

  • Next day, shampoo and condition your hair.

HOW TO MIX HENNA FOR HAIR CONDITIONING


Ingredients:

Henna powder

Curd (one cup)

Methi powder/fenugreek (1 tablespoon)

Egg (Optional)

Instructions:

  • Take required amount of henna powder into a small bowl.

  • Next add one cup of curd, table spoon of methi powder and water to it.
  • You can add egg too(optional).

  • Mix them well until you get fine paste.

  • Apply this paste on hair.
  • Leave it for 30 minutes.

  • Rinse the hair with cold water and never use a shampoo or conditioner.

  • Let the hair air dry and apply oil and leave it overnight on your head.

  • Next day, shampoo and condition your hair.

HOW TO MIX HENNA FOR BURGUNDY COLOR HAIR


Ingredients:

Henna powder

Beet roots (two)

Hibiscus flowers (6-8)

Instructions:

  • Boil two beetroots, hibiscus flowers for 20 minutes.

  • Allow it to cool and make them into fine paste using food processor.

  • Later, add required amount of henna powder to this mixture and mix it well.
  • Just before applying, add one lemon juice (or) one tablespoon of vinegar.
  • Mix this total mixture well.

  • Wear gloves and separate your hair into small sections, about 1″- 2″ in width so that you get

 maximum coverage

  • Using either your hands or brush, apply henna from root to tips.
  • Continue this until all of the mixture is evenly applied and covers your entire head.
  • Leave it for 40-45 minutes.

  • Rinse the hair with cold water and never use a shampoo or conditioner.

  • Let the hair air dry and apply oil and leave it overnight on your head.

  • Next day, shampoo and condition your hair.

HOW TO MIX HENNA FOR DARK BROWN HAIR:


Ingredients:

Henna powder

Tea and coffee decoction

Gloves

Instructions:

  • Put henna in an iron bowl.

  • Next, add freshly boiled tea and coffee decoction.

  • Cover the lid with cover.
  • Leaving it around 6-7 hours or overnight helps to release dye from the henna powder.

  • Wear gloves and separate your hair into small sections, about 1″- 2″ in width so that you get maximum coverage.

  • Using either your hands or brush, apply henna from root to tips.
  • Continue this until all of the mixture is evenly applied and covers your entire head.
  • Leave it for 40-45 minutes.

FENUGREEK, AMLA AND HENNA MIX FOR HEALTHY AND GLOWING HAIR


  • You should prepare this mixture the day before you are planning to apply.
  • Do not apply this mixture if you are having cold.

Ingredients:

Dry amlas (10-20 pieces)

Tea leaves (2 table spoons)

Coffee powder (2 table spoons)

Fenugreek seeds (1 table spoon)

Henna powder (4 table spoon)

Instructions:

  • Take the above ingredients as per measurements into a small bowl.
  • Boil them together by adding 3 cups of water and boil till it is reduced to 1 cup.

  • Sieve it and grind the mixture in food processor.
  • To this mixture, add henna powder and 2 tablespoons of hair oil.

  • Just before applying, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of curd and one egg white.

  • Mix this total mixture well.

  • Apply this paste on your hair and leave for half an hour.

  • Wash it with a good shampoo, after 2-3 washing’s your hair looks healthy and glowing.

LIST OF INGREDIENTS/NATURAL ENHANCERS THAT YOU CAN ADD IN YOUR HENNA MIXTURE


OIL OF YOUR CHOICE:(Almond, Olive etc):

  • Adding about 2 tablespoons of ay essential oil of your choice to the mix is great for dry hair

and damaged tresses.

  • It also makes the henna glide on easy and rinse out quicker than usual.
  • It also acts as a detangler even after the hair is rinsed.

EGG

  • An egg can also help quench dry hair and acts as a power-packed protein rinse

YOGURT:

  • Yogurt helps in reducing frizzies and aids in application. Just add about 3 tablespoons per 4 ounces of henna.

CLOVE POWDER:

  • Adding clove powder into henna will deepen and enhance the color.

BEETROOT:

  • Adding beetroot into henna gives burgundy color to your hair

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:

  • Adding about 2 tablespoons of vinegar boosts henna’s staying power in grey hair.

LEMON:

  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice brightens blonde tones and helps to combat brassiness.

COFFEE:

  • Replacing water in the henna mixture with  coffee deepens auburn tones and adds deeper browns to your overall color.

TEA:

  • Try replacing the water in the mixture with rose hip tea, hibiscus tea, or even red-hued fruit teas to make your auburn hues gorgeous.
  • Try a black tea – For more golden brown highlights.
  • Try chamomile tea-For brighten blonde hair and add some highlights

MOLASSES:

  • 3 tablespoons of molasses enhances and adds depth to red tones.

  • Herbal henna darkens hair acts as natural hair conditioner controls dandruff and also prevents hair loss.
  • Due to natural cooling effect of the herbs used, improves eyesight and gives sound sleep.

MIXING THE HENNA:

Ingredients:

  • Henna powder

  • Iron kadai( If dark tint is required) else plastic or glass bowl

  • Hand gloves (if not available) tie plastic covers to your hands.

  • Tea Decoction (it also helps in minimizing smell of egg)/ Water

  • Egg (acts as power packed protein rinse)

  • Lemon juice (helps to brighten the color and helps in releasing dye)

  • Curd (helps to reduce frizziness and aids in application process)

  • Any essential Oil (helps to reduce dryness and damaged tresses)

Shower cap/plastic cover

Instructions:

  • Take required amount of henna as per your hair length in iron kadai or small bowl.

  • Henna requires some acid to release die from it. Adding lemon juice helps to release die from it.
  • So, add 1/4th cup of lemon juice to it to the henna powder.

  • Stir it well until they are completely mixed without any lumps.

  • Cover this paste with plastic wrap and leave it around 6-7 hours or leave it overnight.
  • Leaving it around 6-7 hours or overnight helps to release dye from the henna powder.

  • Later remove the cover and add egg, curd, oil of your choice, tea or coffee decoction/water to the mixture.

  • Mix it well until you get fine paste without any clumps.
  • If the paste is too thick add water, if it is too watery add some henna powder.

APPLYING THE HENNA:

  • Make sure that before applying henna your hair is clean and free from dust, oil.
  • If you do not want to go for hair coloring, you just need conditioning you can apply henna directly on oily hair.
  • The very first step wear gloves/plastic covers so that you can avoid from coloring of your hand.

  • Separate your hair into small sections, about 1″- 2″ in width so that you get maximum coverage.

  • Using either your hands or brush, apply henna from root to tips.

  • Continue this until all of the mixture is evenly applied and covers your entire head.
  • If there is extra, distribute it as evenly as you can throughout your hair.

  • Cover your head with plastic cover or with an old shower cap which keeps moist and  heat in.

  • For conditioning property, leave it around 30 minutes with or without cover.
  • For lighter shades, leave it around 35-40 minutes with cover, 1 hour without cover.
  • For darker shades, leave it around 45-50 minutes with cover, 80 minutes without cover.

HOW TO RINSE IT OUT:

  • Washing henna from the hair is messy job especially if you don’t know how to do it.
  • Use cold water for rinsing out and just use plain water.
  • Chemical products such as conditioner, shampoo, hair sprays, and hair perfumes should not be used after henna treatment.
  • The best way is stand under the shower. (OR)
  • You may also hold your head under a tap of running water.

  • Do not rub or try to loosen the henna with your hands, let the water itself loosen.
  • Once most of the henna is washed away gently move your palms through the hair shafts to remove any leftover henna and wash your hair as usual.
  • This gets rid of any residual henna and leaves your hair clean and shiny.

AFTER RINSING:

  • Henna makes your hair dry, so it is important to apply any essential oil of your choice after hair is dry.
  • It helps to moisturize your hair.
  • So, apply oil to your hair and leave it overnight.

  • Next day, shampoo your hair.

  • Do not forget conditioning hair.

  • Leave the conditioned hair around 4-5 minutes and wash hair with cold water.
